Torrential Rain Causes Flash Flooding at Dollywood Theme Park

One Person Injured, Park Temporarily Closed

Pigeon Forge, TN - July 29, 2024

Torrential rains have caused widespread flooding in eastern Tennessee, including at Dolly Parton's Dollywood theme park in Pigeon Forge. The park was closed on Sunday after flash flooding left one person injured.

The injured person was treated at a local hospital for minor injuries and has since been released. The park reopened on Monday with limited operations, and officials are working to assess the damage and clean up the park.

The flooding occurred on Sunday evening after a barrage of showers and thunderstorms moved through the area. The heavy rains caused flash flooding that inundated parts of the park, including the main entrance and several rides.

Park officials are urging visitors to check the park's website or social media for updates on the reopening status.
