Covestro Declares Force Majeure on Polycarbonate and Other Products
Europe
Uerdingen, Germany
WEB Covestro has declared force majeure on supplies of methylene di-para-phenylene isocyanate (MDI) from its production facility at Brunsbuettel, Germany. The company cited a technical issue at the plant as the reason for the force majeure declaration.
MDI is a key raw material used in the production of polyurethanes, which are used in a wide range of applications including automotive parts, construction materials, and furniture. The force majeure declaration is likely to disrupt supply chains for these products.
Covestro has not yet announced when it expects to lift the force majeure declaration. The company is working to resolve the technical issue and resume production as soon as possible.
